Hillsboro Cardiology, P.C

The Clinical Research division of Hillsboro Cardiology, P.C. has been in operation for over 20 years. We have partnered with several major pharmaceutical houses, as well as academic institutions, including the Mayo Clinic and the Cleveland Clinic, with the goal of bringing new drugs to our patients and finding important additional uses for pharmaceuticals that have already been approved. Our efforts in this regard have been rewarded over the years as we have watched the medications we have evaluated become part of the front line in treating conditions such as heart attack, angina, high cholesterol, high blood pressure, congestive heart failure, and atrial fibrillation. We have been able to use new technologies such as intravascular ultrasound to help study the effects of several new agents on the plaque that builds up in the coronary artery walls in hopes of finding a way to reverse this process. More recently, we have been involved with the development of drugs that prevent blood clots and strokes in patients with atrial fibrillation, one of which has recently come to market.

Our research staff has been led by Dr. Promisloff for over 15 years. We have gained a reputation for integrity and reliability within the research community. Our patients who have chosen to become involved in our projects have found the experience to be rewarding and satisfying and have enjoyed a close personal relationship with our research staff.

The studies we choose to participate in go through a rigorous examination to determine their safety for our patients, the possibility of providing our patients immediate benefit during their participation, and the potential importance of the study to the field of cardiology.

We carefully screen any patient for participation in a study based on his or her condition and how compatible the study might be with the patient's needs, desires, and lifestyle. Often, the potential of receiving a new medication for an otherwise hard to control medical problem provides our patients with the hope of improved health and/or quality of life.

We are proud to have been able to establish a research environment which not only contributes to the science of cardiology, but also to the health and well-being of our patients.
