American College of Cardiology (CardioSmart): An excellent starting point for additional information about specific cardiac conditions and treatments.

American Heart Association: Another very good starting point for additional information about specific cardiac conditions and treatments.

Up-to-Date: An excellent source for drilling deeper about specific diagnoses and treatments.

US Department of Agriculture (USDA): An extensive resource for looking up the content of almost all foods: calories, sodium, cholesterol, saturated fat, Vitamin K, fiber and much more.

Medline Plus (National Library of Medicine): This website has a resource for patients interested in answering general and specific questions on all medical topics, including those related to the heart and circulation. In addition, their related site is the primary resource used by physicians and scientists to find journal articles on all topics in medical science. You may want to try your hand at searching review articles here, as well.

Drugs @ FDA: As you might expect, not the most user-friendly site to navigate, but the information here is reliable and undistorted by bias. Start with the page we link you to. Then navigate to the drug in question. Then select “label information,” Then choose the most recent “Label (PDF)”. Once that document is loaded, scroll to the “full prescribing information: contents” section. This is a table of contents. What is usually in sections 5 & 6 will be of greatest interest to you, the adverse reactions and side effects. Pay particular attention to the tables which show what percentage of patients experience the effect you are looking for and be sure to compare that number to the percent of patients experiencing the same thing while taking a placebo instead.

Epocrates: You need to register to gain the free access to this drug information site. Valid information.

National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute: Part of the federal government's National Institutes of Health (NIH), this website is reliable and rich with resources.
